Base Wanaka has arrived! Our newest hostel, opened in July 2008. Following the BASE tradition this is a one stop hostel in the centre of beautiful Wanaka only minutes walk to the lake front with what can only be rated as one of the most beautiful lake and mountain vista views in the world. BASE Wanaka has an excellent, central location - just minutes walk to shops, cafés and local stores. Superior facilities, fun communal areas and friendly, local staff make this the perfect place to stay

Our staff are young, helpful and friendly, as well as knowledgeable on what to do in and around Wanaka. Ask us for some ideas - you will be surprised at what is on offer. We make it easy to meet other like minded travellers with great communal spaces, lots of entertainment and a general laid back vibe. Our newest bar to the group, Mint Bar, sets the standard in style and hosts both national and international bands and DJ’s mixed in with drink specials every night. Get amongst it!

Cleanliness

We are committed to being the cleanest hostel in New Zealand. Brand new location designed for a bit of luxury and our Clean teams purpose in life is to keep it looking that way. All rooms and bathrooms are cleaned daily with all beds made with fresh quality linen.

Convenience

The property is less than 1 minutes walk to the supermarkets, convenience stores, banks and the post office. The lake front is not much further and is definitely a must for summer days and relaxation. Our on site bar provides great meals for every budget and you really wont want for much more. Surround sound plasma TV lounge caps it off.
